Happy Birthday!

October is a great month for birthdays and anniversaries. My son’s birthday is on the 3rd, my niece Nadia has her birthday on the 26th and our wedding anniversary is on the 18th.
The most important birthday however is my wife’s which is today!!
Happy Birthday my darling. I hope you have a great day!

Happy Birthday David!

Well it’s official. My wife and I no longer have any teenage children. David is 20 today! If you see him, hug him or kiss him! I love you David! Have a great day.

Just a brief visit

Well I had a great holiday and I haven’t told you about that yet (All the photos are on Flickr though (look to your right). In fact I was watching the date of my last post and realizing that it was almost a month since I last wrote. In the end it became a game [...]

Strange Summer

Il pleut ce matin et il fait plus frais que ces derniers jours. Je fais les remarques sur cet été et mon intolérance à la chaleur et mon étonnement que malgré une température de 20°C le chauffeur de bus  avait enclenché le chauffage dans mon bus.

It’s raining this morning. It started sometime in the night [...]

Trop c’est trop

Here I’m complaining about the noise made by the construction site you can see in the photo. I’m sick and tired of it going on all day from 7 in the morning until late in the afternoon. At least in winter we can close the windows.

J’en ai marre du bruit ce matin. Je travail au [...]

My Harry Potter VII experience

I read the first Harry Potter book about a year or so after it first came out. It was a damn good read. I read the next 5 books rapidly within months of their publication. As I live in French speaking Switzerland it was difficult to obtain them rapidly although it has got easier and [...]

I have been working in IT for over 15 years and through that time software has always been seen as being effective in solving business and real life problems.
There is however a dimension that has been sorely neglected and that is organizational and social structures and human psychology. If you look at this as a [...]

Scary

This is the clip I wanted to post earlier. It’s very scary and I’ll be very careful driving back home this evening!
Here is the original description :
“This tunnel in Russia is the longest in-city tunnel of Europe. There is a river running over it and water leaks at some points. When the temperature reaches minus [...]

Viddler

As happens frequently I was alerted to a useful tool via Stephanie’s blog.
This is me trying to add a Viddler video directly from Viddler. With any luck it worked (but not with the video I was trying to post!)

Bathroom sink

We have a bathroom cabinet with two sinks. One of them has been giving trouble for over a year. It takes too long to drain and although I’ve taken a plunger to it in the past that has only given a temporary respite at most.
I’m not a plumber and in the past my track record [...]
