Rushed off my feet

It’s been a very busy week. TGIF!

Professionally the move means me splitting my time between two offices and some overtime to compensate. All my professional activities are in flux and I will have to adhere to new objectives.

I have been asked to step up as National IT Director of an Association that I am involved in but unluckily this has coincided with a massive breakdown of our mailing lists which have unsynchronized themselves with our databases. I’m struggling to hold things together while learning how the system (is supposed to) works.

On the home front my son David is in the middle of his end of year project which will enable him to qualify and move on to Engineering College and my wife has been having some health problems that luckily would appear to be diagnosed and in treatment.

Finally I have learned that Violet my eldest daughter from my first marriage is getting married this July in England. We haven’t really kept in touch even when she lived here in Switzerland. Divorce is ugly for everyone involved and she has suffered a lot. I will be discreet here but must admit that I feel very guilty about the whole affair. It eats me up to be responsible for the suffering of others and I was focused too long on my own hurt to fully realize the effect on my ex-wife and daughter. It’s cruel not to be able to repair the harm done and almost thirty years later when I reflect on what happened I can’t identify myself with who I was at the time.

I have changed in so many ways and most of these changes are through the influence of my wife and children and friends and family. So this is a big thank you and an apology. I can’t undo the past but I will try my utmost to live responsibly and fully assume it.
