I’ve mentioned it before. We have to vote many times each year on various topics and the next voting day is next month. There are three subjects. The first is for or against establishing a State run Health Insurance system (For years there have been a multitude of competing Health Insurance companies). I might come back to this if you ask me politely
The second is for reinforcing policy to allocate sufficient resources for Old People’s Homes (It is felt by the initiants that through encouraging Home Care there aren’t sufficient resources left for institutionlized care.)
The third is to reinforce legislation to enable fines to be levied against those advertising cultural events without using the official and unique advertising company. As things stand posters can be scotch taped where there is space without being fined. I think this is perfectly acceptable. I don’t like monopolies and advertisers of local events (Discos, concerts for example) just don’t have the cash to pay for “official” advertising space.
Here is a pic of what a typical campaign looks like. These posters are outside a local school (The Primary school that my children attended incidentally.)

I hope we had such democracy here in Mexico, but we are still, far, far away.
