I’ve been reflecting lately on changing (again) my lifestyle. Last year when I was ill I lost some weight but unfortunately put it all back on in the following months. What I really need to do is to change my eating habits (sounds easier than going on (yet) another diet) and increase my physical activities.
Everything [...]

Equilibrium
Fading out and rounded corners
I manage an increasing number of websites and what takes me the most time and energy are the graphical elements. I struggle and make compromises because I’m not very competent in that field. I shouldn’t be too hard on myself as I usually manage to get more or less what I need but it’s the time [...]
Prelude to a weekend
I was up early this morning, as usual for a working day. As I have already mentioned, this winter has been very mild and now, at the end of February, I am allowing myself a certain optimism and looking forward to Spring.
Around about this time of year the days start to get visibly longer [...]
It’s voting time again
I’ve mentioned it before. We have to vote many times each year on various topics and the next voting day is next month. There are three subjects. The first is for or against establishing a State run Health Insurance system (For years there have been a multitude of competing Health Insurance companies). I might [...]
Almost
Well we almost celebrated Pancake Day yesterday. I say almost because we finished by having a Crêpes Party with savoury and sweet crêpes. In the end there just wasn’t the time to get it all ready and to be honest my wife and son prefer savoury “pancakes” to sweet ones.

Something’s not right
My wife and I learnt today that a very good friend’s husband is not getting any better. Since we know her, her husband has been ill and that’s over ten years now. In addition to cancer and renal failure she learnt recently that he has been diagnosed as having Alzheimers disease. That’s a lot of [...]
Pancake Day
My daily (well almost daily anyway) visit to Chippenham Blog - which is a great place to visit by the way - led me to a post mentioning carnivals and street happenings in Chippenham, UK, the town where I was born.
Deep in the post our hostess mentions “Pancake Day” which I remember with fondness [...]
Hospital
Two posts about my wife in a row but this one is harder to write than the last one. Yesterday she had a sudden onset of abdominal pain that was impossible to relieve and at the end of the afternoon a colleague drove her to the local hospital while I left work to be by [...]
My Valentine
I’m sorry my darling! I don’t intend to embarass you, only to pay tribute and show to the world what a wonderful human being you are. I’m the lucky one because you have been gracing me with your presence for almost 30 years now. I’m the only one who knows how delicious and loving [...]
The Tree Surgeon
Remember we had some snow a while ago? Well I said at the time that two of our trees had really suffered. Well I took my courage in both hands yesterday and sawed off the damaged branches. The damage was worse than I had thought. In addition the trunks were thicker and the sawed off [...]
